Blue and green record exploding into shards

Chè
Somewhere New

Occasionally you carelessly whack a record into the CD player and it changes your day. I woke up miserable, went to work depressed and came home wound-up. It was when I played Chè’s ‘Somewhere New’ that I cheered up and not just a bit; it really made my day.

This is a smashing triplet of intensely melodic rock songs with stunning vocals and more hooks than the Earls Court cloakroon.

‘Something New’ has a choppy rhythm and swirls of guitars alongside that wonderful voice and ‘Headrush’ is even better, with a shower or harmonies over a solid beat. It also houses one of the best chorus’s I’ve ever heard.

Rounding things off, ‘Anti-Clockwise’ has a rhythm that matches it’s title, flickering through a melody that counters the beat and provides accomplished flair to a still-brilliant song.

Chè are the best band I’ve heard this year and, if I was to carefully check back through my collection, they would be the best band I’ve heard over a much longer period!
