Kaiser Chiefs - Feeling Alright

Feeling Alright

Jump to...

What we have within twenty seconds of Kaiser Chiefs’ new single ‘Feeling Alright’ kicking off is a mix of indie groove and funk-rock. Despite surprising us with those guitar licks, I suspect there’s enough of their own soul in here to bring fans along for the ride.

The song is the third landmark for their 2024 album, titled Easy Eighth Album. It’s a strong track, for sure, an indie disco hit and the focus snaps in when you realize Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Nile Rogers, is a collaborator.

This song is similar in some ways to 2022’s ‘How 2 Dance’, but it has more of a Kaiser Chiefs bounce to it. It feels more self-assured and warm. It probably edges their previous single ‘Jealousy’, which has a great bass line and jangly guitars, again because of this beat.

Amongst the Kaiser Chiefs and Nile Rogers signatures, you’ll detect Prince, INXS, The Feeling, Wild Cherry, and just a little bit of Tom Jones in this song.

Listen to Kaiser Chiefs – ‘Feeling Alright’.

Feeling Alright Lyrics

Phone in dead for work again
I want to see you there
Feel you there for me
I know we’re going out in style
We take our places in a line
And when the lights go down
The city’s mine
I got this

Feeling alright
I’m yours and your mine
Feeling alright
Don’t be scared to fight
Feeling alright
I’m yours tonight
Feeling alright
Don’t be scared to fight

No-one you’ve ever loved is ever dead no
They’re always in your head
In your heart dancing
I know I want to see them all tonight
We turn our back against the style
We’re always dancing, turning, spinning, my god!
We got this

Feeling alright
I’m yours and you’re mine
Feeling alright
Don’t be scared to fight
Feeling alright
I’m yours tonight
Feeling alright
Don’t be scared to fight

Now we’ve got to dancing all night
The rest is up to you
Now we’ve got to dancing all night
Got you dancing all night
The rest is up to you
I’m so proud of this big ass crowd
Singing real loud
Now you know what to do

Feeling alright
I’m yours and you’re mine
Feeling alright
Don’t be scared to fight
Feeling alright
I’m yours tonight
Feeling alright
Don’t be scared to fight
