Fell In Love

Jump to...

Throwing a stylistic curveball, ‘Fell In Love’ is the story of a doomed relationship, expressed through the medium of a bouncy jangly guitar-pop. The vocals pin this to blink-182, but you wouldn’t have guessed it was them without Tom and Mark’s voices.

The bass line and handclaps nod to The Cure’s Head On The Door, the keyboards provide a soft motif in the intro and flickers in the verses, and the guitars are jangly in the left ear, and crunchy in the right. If you listen closely, there’s a lot to love – even though I think the stunned surprise of the song will confuse folks for a while.

We can infer from ‘More Than You Know’, ‘Dance With Me’, ‘One More Time’, and now ‘Fell In Love’ that the new blink-182 album is going to be full of variety. Although fans might be momentarily stunned by this alternative pop song, when you give it a couple of spins it really grows on you.

Fell In Love Lyrics

Late night, feelin’ kinda lonely
Drive home, no one’s waiting for me
I don’t miss the days before I fell for you

Last time, was fun but overrated
White lines, fun but then you hate it
Cruel hearts and nobody could break it
Sad but true

And honestly (when I look back*)
I needed you (when I look back)
You needed me, it’s crazy

Do you remember the time when we first met
You were at a party with your ex
I said hello, then I got drunk
Do you remember the time we fell in love

Do you remember the night when you came over
Playing songs, laying on my shoulder
We made out ’til the sun came up
Do you remember the time
Remember the time
We fell in love

Na na na, Na na na, Na na na, Na na na

How could I ever forget, laying in your bed
Having sex all night
It’s fucking with my head
Now we can never pretend, that we can only be friends
We should do it again and again

And honestly (when I look back)
I needed you (when I look back)
You needed me, it’s crazy

Do you remember the time when we first met
You were at a party with your ex
I said hello, then I got drunk
Do you remember the time we fell in love

Do you remember the night when you came over
Playing songs, laying on my shoulder
We made out ’til the sun came up
Do you remember the time
Remember the time
We fell in love

Na na na, na na na
(Do you remember the time Do you remember the time, remember the time, we fell in love)

(Na na na, na na na…)

How could I ever forget, laying in your bed
Having sex all night
It’s fucking with my head
Now we can never pretend, we can only be friends
Remember the time, we fell in love

* Officially the lyrics is ‘What was that?’, but honest to goodness it sounds like ‘when I look back’. Discuss!
