More Than You Know

Jump to...

This is the flip side of blink-182’s recent single, ‘One More Time’, but their single was so powerful it needed breathing room. If you’re ready for a song that might be more indicative of the forthcoming album, let’s get to it!

The song begins with an echo of the ‘Stockholm Syndrome Interlude’ but quickly lights up into a heady full track. The lyrics are still packed full of emotion, but this time around there’s more pain and anguish, with a sprinkling of bitter angst.

The song has plenty of this band’s signature, aligned to their darker edge. The chorus is, perhaps, more hard-hitting with its double bass drum drive.

I seem to remember Therapy? facing up to the ghosts of Troublegum by releasing an album of echoes called Disquiet. There’s a similarity to this in the two songs blink-182 have given us for their classic line-up reunion. Sometimes, you have to take a good look behind you to be sure how to move forward.

The long player One More Time… is out on October 20th.

More Than You Know Lyrics

Your bed is the last battlefield, a nuclear weapon
Let’s search and destroy all the innocent throats we can step on
You bury your face underneath, half-hearted confessions
You poison yourself with the thought I won’t love you to death

Black lights across my face
Words that we’ll never write
Wait for the phone to ring
Back to the starting line, go!

I don’t feel pain, but I feel more than you’d ever know
I don’t feel shame, I don’t have highs but I’ve got some lows
I feel a bit cursed, I’ve been numb and sinking down like a stone
I don’t feel pain, but I feel more than you’d ever know
More than you’d know

I shook all the leaves from your tree and left you with nothing
I can’t see the colors you see, they won’t see me coming
The ivy is starting to creep, it grows through the awnings
It’s dawning on me that I shouldn’t be trying at all

Black lights across my face
Words that we’ll never write
Wait for the phone to ring
Back to the starting line, go!

I don’t feel pain, but I feel more than you’d ever know
I don’t feel shame, I don’t have highs but I’ve got some lows
I feel a bit cursed, I’ve been numb and sinking down like a stone
I don’t feel pain, but I feel more than you’d ever know
More than you’d know

It goes on and on, I swear we don’t belong
On and on, (we’re lonely) I swear we don’t belong (wherever, too tongue-tied forever)
It goes on and on (we’re lonely, wherever), I swear it don’t belong
Too tongue tied forever

I don’t feel pain, but I feel more than you’d ever know
I don’t feel shame, I don’t have highs but I’ve got some lows
I feel a bit cursed, I’ve been numb and sinking down like a stone
I don’t feel pain, but I feel more than you’d ever know
More than you’d know
