The Molotovs - Urbia

The Molotovs have an impressive album available, but their latest track, ‘Urbia’ just makes me even more excited. The song has a really great rock and roll beat with triple-snare hits that make you want to clap along.

The vocal bursts out in the first half of the verse, then grows with the harmony as it trundles into the chorus. The song has a huge feel thanks to that Welleresque vocal and the thickness of the musical tone.

I challenge the engineer and producer in the studio to make their recording sound as good as the live performance.

Urbia Lyrics

This is a first cut based on a couple of live performances and some of the lyrics may have also changed, there’s a politician/television switch in the video linked above. Help us out (shout at us on socials!)

Today we’re brought up by the urban hymns
They always play you, but they never win
A shattered cup and a rushing train
You sweep it up, then you start again

You’re rusted bike with it’s knackered seat
You pedal faster still you can’t compete
The sanctity of being a visionary
Go and sell your brothers to the tooth fairy

Oh! Welcome to Urbia
Welcome to Urbia
Today

I’m handicapped by the common thought
My life is solely packaged out and shop bought
The sky above me ?? seems like winter here
The tin foil hat ?? I wear disappears

I’ve got as much sleep as ??three people??
As I do from hanging out with a politicians
I don’t know why it all comes as a shock
Sorry to leave it all in such a mess old cock

Oh! Welcome to Urbia
Welcome to Urbia
Today

Hey. Oh-oh. Woah. Woah.

I like a man man in a uniform
I took your promises to lay out once more
?? fear
So we’re back so watch out, so get clear

I see it as it is presented to me
There ain’t no room for conspiracy
I’m sick and tired of this haunted life
Just get me moving, get me out tonight

Oh! Welcome to Urbia
Welcome to Urbia
Today
