Captain - This is Hazelville

Captain
Glorious

If the sweet crunchy intro doesn’t suck you in, they’ll get you when the verse kicks in. With a lead vocal that’s got a little Corgan-esque fry available on demand, Captain sound like a modern version of Deacon Blue on this stunner.

Rik Flyn provides the main voice on this record, with Clare Szembek providing wonderful backing vox as well as that crucial keyboard hook. We’re deeply impressed and we didn’t even hit the chorus yet. Lyrically, it’s as simple as ‘it’s a glorious town’ with the words stretched into a rhythmic earworm.

If you want to here a single where all the elements are crisp and polished, this is it. From the opening guitar, to that keyboard motif, to the neat bass run. It really is a classy track.

Watch Captain – Glorious.
