Kunk - We Are Not Who You Think We Are

Kunk
Live

Kunk landed on stage at Hamptons in Southampton mid-way through a tour promoting their new single, ‘We Are Not Who You Think We Are’.

With a set consisting of a variety of original rock-a-la-punk material as well as some well-placed covers, Kunk’s three-vocal attack kept things right on the edge throughout their set. Whether it was the rock vocal of their grungey front-man, the screams of the lead guitarist, or the delicate tones of the bass player; each voice supplied the main vocal to at least one song. The best use of the disparate vocal cords, though, was when they were combined, as they were in the opening brace of songs.

The raw style of the band really came to life in the intimate venue, surprisingly well balanced between the amp-stacks and the relatively small vocal sound system. Lifted from the single, ‘Public Image Ltd’ sounded so good live, the band had no choice but to play the track once more as an encore.

Kunk are still relatively green; the gaps between the songs bearing testament to a little dampness in the “behind ear” department, but they certainly have something going on that makes their best songs shine.

Their single is out on Monday 18th of February and if their tour takes them through your local venue, they’re worth checking out live too.
