Bad Nerves - Alright

Bad Nerves
Alright

Rapid and analog-thin, ‘Alright’ has a nostalgic tone and tiny bubbles around the edges making it sound like a classic indie-rock track. They give you two and thirty to make up your mind if you like it, and I do.

The lyrics are barked out and seem pretty casual at first glance until you start unpacking the metaphors… then it takes on greater, though veiled, meanings. At its heart it’s a fast-paced power-pop, references both directly and via the Britpop reinvention.

Researching their live sound, it’s pretty faithful to what we have, minus the edges. They keep the guitar towards the wiry end of the tone spectrum while the vocals are a little warmer, but otherwise the same.

Bad Nerves are an exciting band with strong material, and ‘Alright’ is as good a place to start as any…
