Harker - Medicine

Harker
Medicine

Jump to...

Recorded at Southsea Sound and with a video captured at Brighton’s Prince Albert, ‘Medicine’ is pure south coast gold. It all kicks off with an urgent riff, but those awesome Harker change-ups are scattered throughout this song.

The verse has an intense vocal to accompany the riff, the words screaming out in the chaos, and then it’s a sudden transition into a melodic and spacious chorus. After the second verse and chorus, there’s a middle eight that delivers us straight into a final chorus that gets an alternative rendering.

The band’s superpower is the ability to pull off these drastic changes while maintaining a coherent song. The guitars are a racing buzz one second, then they’re pulling off crystalline licks around the edge the next. We saw this in action in ‘Out The Window’, too.

I love Harker’s style. It’s something different and I can’t wait to hear more.

Watch Harker – ‘Medicine’.

Medicine Lyrics

Level out to measure in
State of sin eating me
Grip of thieves for company
Heard of fleas

Unravel come undone
The fear cutting up my lungs
Medicine, Medicine, Medicine
You’re awake but you’re fooled enough
To let the heads roll off
Medicine, Medicine, killing me

Honesty is all you need to feel at ease
Affected
Punishment of you that’s gone
It won’t be long until we follow on

Unravel come undone
The fear cutting up my lungs
Medicine, Medicine, Medicine
You’re awake but you’re fooled enough
To let the heads roll off
Medicine, Medicine, Medicine

Sit back and watch the world just burn
Gotta fake that smile, market crash in style
Unconditional power, we deal in blood per capita
It starts to ache, the lives they take
It starts to ache

Unravel come undone,
The fear cutting up my lungs
Medicine, Medicine, Medicine
You’re awake but you’re fooled enough
To let the heads roll off
Medicine
