Kill The Icon have released a new punk protest track. This is a stomping rage against our government and society. It pays tribute to protesters and attempts to demonstrate how ridiculously unequipped humans are to think at planet scale.

Musically, the drums and fuzzy bass kick things off with a stop-start verse. The second half of the verse sees the drums begin a flurry, though the stop-start remains. The pre-chorus smoothes things out and the chorus provides a hooky pin in the song. The chorus gets the full band thickening the sound and pushing the loudness.

Lyrically, you realize just how ridiculous it is that most people’s main concern about climate change is individualistic and fails to recognise the catastrophic consequences of ignoring decades of warnings. This year has shown us that climate change isn’t going to make the UK like a Spanish holiday resort. It brings forest fires, volatile weather, and can collapse food systems.

The song talks about ice caps, fires, sea levels, and forms of protest. It pays tribute to the protesters, at a time when protest is under threat from an extreme government. And yes, any government that wants to withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights is extreme – these rights were created after the Second World War and supported by Winston Churchill.

In the centre of our movement stands the idea of a Charter of Human Rights, guarded by freedom and sustained by law.

Winston Churchill

I consider myself quite a moderate person, but it’s we moderates who need to stand up. It’s embarrassing that we are depending on children and students to bear the risk of protest. But what can you do? Put aside the circus of politics and vote in people who will take action on climate change and accept the policies that must be put in place to make a real difference.

What is worth more, art or life? Is it worth more than food? More than justice? Are you more concerned about the protection of a painting, or the protection of our planet and people?

And Now, The Weather Lyrics

Ice caps are melting
Everything’s burning
The city’s on fire
I feel just fine

It’s 103 degrees
New York City’s underwater
But as long as I have AC
Then I’ll feel just fine

It offends me that it doesn’t affect you!
It affects me that it doesn’t offend you!

Cause it’s all about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
It makes you feel
Better, better, better, better, better
Shame about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
It’ll make you feel fine
Ha ha!
Cause it’s all about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
It makes you feel
Better, better, better, better, better
Such a shame about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
It’ll make you feel fine
Tonight

Just because she has pink hair and a nose ring
Doesn’t make her less serious
She’s throwing paint at a Van Gough
Just to make you feel curious

You drive your Range Rover through Chelsea
For a fashion statement
So that’s why I slash tyres
And call it my mission statement

Wow. Ah-ah-ah-ow
Wow. Ah-ah-ah-ow
Wow. Ah-ah-ah-ow
Wow. Ah-ah-ah-ow

It offends me that it doesn’t affect you!
It affects me that it doesn’t offend you!

Cause it’s all about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
It makes you feel
Better, better, better, better, better
Shame about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
It’ll make you feel fine
Ha ha!
Cause it’s all about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
It makes you feel
Better, better, better, better, better
Such a shame about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
It’ll make you feel fine
Tonight

My my my my muscle car
My my my my muscle car
My my my my muscle car
My vanity will kill the planet
My my my my muscle car
My my my my muscle car
My my my my muscle car
My vanity will kill the planet

Cause it’s all about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
It makes you feel
Better, better, better, better, better
Shame about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
It’ll make you feel fine
Ha ha!
Cause it’s all about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
(My my my my muscle car)
It makes you feel
Better, better, better, better, better
(My my my my muscle car)
Such a shame about the
Weather, weather, weather, weather, weather
(My my my my muscle car)
It’ll make you feel fine
Tonight
