Jump to...

The spiritual successor to ‘Boom’, Cassyette’s new single ‘Oops’ is an electro-rock track with a pounding beat and vocals that can notch up the scales like a nimble boulder climber.

The verses are rhythmic, the pre-chorus sweet in the backing and huge in the lead vocal, and the chorus is a big hedonistic anthem. There’s a chaos to it with a damn-the-consequences attitude and the elements all combine to manifest those sharp edges.

Cassyette is like a pro-wrestler, when you try to pin down her sound she will twist a shoulder and deliver a visceral scream, or a pop hook, or a classic rock melody, or whatever you least expect. This writhing anarchic refusal to stick in a lane is one of the best things.

Beneath all those changes, there’s a spine that channels the connective tissue of all the tracks, and ‘Oops’ and ‘Boom’ are unmistakably part of the same organism as ‘Dear Goth’, ‘Mayhem’, and ‘September Rain’.

Oops Lyrics

Oops!
Oops!

Let my hair down like a ribbon
Wanna taste ya like cinnamon
Worship me like a religion
Pray that we will be forgiven
‘Cause we’re out of control, spinning
Locked up in here, now we’re sinning
Got my hands up on the ceiling
Down on your knees, what a feeling

I know
That to love ya is to suffer
I know
Think I love ya motherfucker (Motherfucker!)

It’s a bad idea, but I’m gonna do it anyway
(Oops, look what you made me do)
Why does it feel so good when we misbehave?
(Oops, look what you made me do) Oops!

Oops!

Got a monster in me, feed it
Hit the spot, and then you’ll feel it
It ain’t Hell, it’s down bеneath it
Take me thеre, ’cause I am freezing
I like Carolina reaper
Burning up, I got a fever
Crawling on all the walls like creatures
Said how much I really need ya

(I know) I know
That to love ya is to suffer
(I know)
Think I love ya motherfucker (Motherfucker!)

[Chorus]
It’s a bad idea, but I’m gonna do it anyway
(Oops, look what you made me do)
Why does it feel so good when we misbehave?
(Oops, look what you made me do)
It’s so hot right here, we’re playing with fire
I wanna touch all your electric wires
It’s a bad idea, but I’m gonna do it anyway
(Oops, look what you made me do) Oops!

Oops

Oops, ooh
Oops, ah, yeah
I wanna love ya
Love ya

It’s a bad idea, but I’m gonna do it anyway (Motherfucker!)
‘Cause it feels so good when we misbehave
(Oops, look what you made me do)
It’s so hot right here, we’re playing with fire
I wanna touch all your electric wires
It’s a bad idea, but I’m gonna do it anyway
(Oops, look what you made me do)
