Demo

Placebo meets My Chemical Romance in This City’s wiry hand-written demo CD. It all starts with the titleless ‘Track 1’, which is a crushed and emotional break-up song with the piercing guitars of Placebo’s ‘Bitter End’ and a spitting vocal not unlike MCR’s Gerard Way.

The theme continues with a great solo section, thanks to some solid drumming in ‘Romantic’, and the mixed pace in ‘Time Tonight’ is reminiscent of a Black Market Music track.

Once more, this record demonstrates just a bit too much by way of similarity to influences, but it does have a lot of heart. It’s gutsy and has a satisfying rawness that you just can’t find in the high street any more.
