Fed Up

I’m not going to lie, when I hit play the extreme panning on the thunder that introduces the song made me jump up and look out the window. On the second attempt, I could appreciate the transition into the drumbeat more. Now we’re up and running.

This song has the elements we’ve come to expect from Cartographer; tight intricate drumming, creative guitar and bass work, and Skies’ vocal that provides sweet melodies with moments of fry to accent the lyrics.

The song also has a few surprises. The atmosphere is different to previous songs, giving us something new in the soft moments that help deliver the feels of the “fed up, fed up lately” sentiment. If you’ve been running on empty, this song will connect.

Cartographer are, in my humble opinion, ready to go huge. This lineup has the sparks flying and they are doing something that has lots of interesting new things. With this freshness, they also have references to connect them to bands we utterly love.

The band is releasing a new EP in March and I cannot wait.

Fed Up Lyrics

Every day’s the same
Tomorrow feels like yesterday
Feels like I’m running out of time without a purpose
This can’t be right

Fed up, fed up lately
Runnin’ low on time
And I’m screaming but nobody hears me
Empty like a gasoline light
I’ve got nothing left to give you
And I’ve got nothing left to lose
‘Cause I’ve been fed up lately

Now I’m feeling all of these emotions
I don’t really care if you can’t hold ’em
I don’t wanna do this anymore
No, so little patience when you took your time wasting mine
Take me down that road
I’m not going home tonight
I’m not waiting on the back burner

Fed up, fed up lately
Runnin’ low on time
And I’m screaming but nobody hears me
Empty like a gasoline light
I’ve got nothing left to give you
And I’ve got nothing left to lose
‘Cause I’ve been fed up lately

Did you think this would go on forever?
You’ve lost touch with reality
I wish I were somewhere else
Why are you still talking?

Fed up, fed up lately
Runnin’ low on time
And I’m screaming, but nobody hears me
Empty like a gasoline light
I’ve got nothing left to give you
And I’ve got nothing left to lose
‘Cause I’ve been fed up lately
