The Lazarus Plot
Always the Same
‘Always the Same’ is a great track. Europe-wide appealing pop is the basis of the song with an emotive tune and whispery lyrics.
The piano leads the way and the guitar follows with loads of synth and percussion thrown in for ambient good-measure. I reckon it would be even better if the vocal notched things up a bit for the chorus, but the melody is nice enough.
The single boasts a whopping four versions of this track; the radio edit, a live acoustic version, a Late Bar Remix that pays more attention to dynamics and a spot-the-difference non-radio edit! If you don’t know the tune by the time you’ve hit the fourth version, you’re a goldfish.
This is a good song (albeit the only one on the whole CD) and I do like it quite a lot!
