The Love Crave
The Angel and The Rain EP
When you listen to a new band, a series of thoughts run through your head. After the first impressions, a number of thoughts blend together and begin to form a verdict. This process rolled around my mind a hundred times before I managed to pin down why The Love Crave fails to inspire me.
At the moment, the music scene is full of average bands producing average music. This is basically because the musicians are average. With The Love Crave, though, it works in a different way. They are actually quite talented musicians, but the music they produce follows the same average trend.
For some people, the technical side of the music is the most important; what chords or time signatures are combined, and this is one checkbox the band can tick. In all honesty though, if it doesn’t catch our imagination then it’s unlikely to create that all important spark. In fact, if we all concentrated on this aspect of the music, Nirvana would never have inspired an era of music and we’d never move on from the classical masters – but as an alternative to The Love Crave, even Mozart appeals.
With their clear musical ability, it’s fair to expect them to have produced something more creative but they, like so many other bands, are completely under the influence of their peers. There is nothing new here, too many bands listen to inspirational musicians and find themselves unable to produce anything with the same spark of invention.
The Love Crave are no different. To find themselves selling albums and creating a name for themselves this band will have to move in a new direction and be more open to new music or they will continue re-producing music that sounds as though its just been ripped from a dodgy 1980’s horror film.
