Blood Red Shoes - Start To End

Blood Red Shoes
Start To End

Jump to...

A really massive bass and fuzzy guitars immerse a throbbing beat for the intro of ‘Start To End’ and this is the bedrock for the track, gaining intensity throughout but cycling hypnotically.

When you have a superb scuzzed up soundbad for a song, a strong whispery vocal cuts right through, injecting ‘I would stay / But my head’s not straight’ directly into your veins where it will return to your conciousness every time is seeps into the big organ in your chest.

With more sway in the beat, ‘Get Back Into Myself’ has more traditional dynamics. The intensity rushes in like a wave, then falls away back into the ocean, giving the song a spacious verse and more intense chorus.

The longevity of Blood Red Shoes is in some part related to how they continue to give an edge to their sound. Whether it’s all out fuzz, or warm and jangly, whether it’s a whispered cool or melodic warm. This double a-side gives you both.

Start To End Lyrics

Headlights on my face, I’m too blinded to trace
A line from start to end, something I can’t comprehend

I would stay
But my head’s not straight
I would stay
But my head’s not straight

Everything I have in the bag on my back
And all these passing sounds knock my feet right off the ground

I would stay
But my head’s not straight
I would stay
But my head’s not straight

Flashes in the sky, don’t know how to say goodbye
The past is laid to rest, buried deep, it’s for the best

And I would stay
But my head’s not straight
I would stay
But my head’s not straight

And I would stay
But my head’s not straight
I would stay
But my head’s not straight
