Blue and green record exploding into shards

12 Stone Toddler
Candles on the Cake

Taking the inescapable process of ageing as inspiration, ‘Candles on the Cake’ laments the aches and pains of getting a bit too old.

However lamentable the subject matter, though, the music is as filth-pop as ever from 12 Stone Toddler. On top of the musical approach, the chorus supplies a celebration, claiming that we’re not getting older, just better. That’s a relief!

For those who feel strongly enough about all this (and I must admit I’m happy to branded with this hot-iron) the instrumental B-side provides great kareoke potential, which I will gladly test a bit later.

I’ll leave you with the vision of me, the sofa as a makeshift stage, bouncing around in my underpants and chanting along to this record on repeat!
