Achenar
All Will Change LP Sampler

Somehow, despite having a release date of 22nd September, it’s entirely appropriate that Achenar’s record landed on my doormat at the end of October. Yes, the shops may already be filled with the joys of Christmas, but for Achenar (AKA Duncan Hemingway), and for me, it’s most certainly Halloween!

‘Survive Yourself’ is a dark and foreboding track with eerie sounds, scary bass and a cacophony of samples that melt together to form an epic soundtrack.

A more immediate intro shoves ‘The Suicide of Giants’ to the fore. It fuzzes, screams and blasts into life like a possessed being. At this stage, sitting on your own in a flat in North London starts to lose its appeal as every noise in the corridor makes me jump out of my skin.

In fact, if they made Blade 4 and wanted the most frightening soundtrack ever for those blood-drenched club scenes, they could do much worse than elist Hemingway to supply the full on tones needed to accompany the chaotic dancing.
