The Wombats
A Guide to Love, Loss, and Desperation LP

Indie-disco was created for The Wombats and with The Wombats Proudly Present …A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation; they’ve created a perfect example of how to make an entire album of a-side material.

If you haven’t yet had the pleasure (shame on you) The Wombats are indeed the indie-punky-pop genius that has already been reported many times. On top of all that, for me at least, they hit some of the same buttons that The Cure did around the time they recorded ‘Boys Don’t Cry’.

Picking a great track to illustrate how good this band are is as simple as hitting the random-button… ‘Lost in the Post’; musical and lyrical excellence. ‘Kill The Director’; fabulous. ‘Backfire at the Disco’; an anthemic floor-filler. ‘Lost in the Post’ pops up a second time and I’m not the least bit inclined to skip it and the list goes on until all thirteen tracks are done.

This band truly deserves the buzz that’s surrounding them at the moment. You’re bound to hear more from them, as they haven’t even come close to running out of single from this album.
