Creeper - Cry To Heaven. A vintage looking painting featuring an angelic beauty wearing a white gown, she has dark bony wings. She is sat on a pile of skulls and surrounded by classical looking dancing girls. A foreboding castle partly hides the moon.

Teenage Sacrifice

Creeper’s new single ‘Teenage Sacrifice’ is a rock opera that brings their vampire aesthetic to a song that nods to Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler’s compilation Heaven and Hell. Everything about this song faithfully spins off the eighties, from the chugging palm-muted fifths to the squealing solo.

The song is accompanied by a bloodthirsty video, which we’ll call Mercy and the Sacrifice for the purposes of description. The basic premise is that through a series of beautifully framed scenes, we are introduced to Mercy, who later seductively lures her victim into the long corn stalks and graphically drains them in the style of slasher horror. The film is interspersed with vampiric shots of the band.

The song and the visuals are entirely on point for Creeper. This is why the band has such a strong and dedicated fanbase – they are a rare full-immersive lifestyle band; a modern-day Alien Sex Fiend, perhaps.

Yes, this is strongly Gothic in nature. Listen to that bass tone, bask in the grave-digging blood-drinking lyrics. It’s also highly romanticised, which nods to the literary equivalent of the music. The result is an epic subculture anthem that feels like it was missing from the Lost Boys soundtrack.

Remaining firmly on the theme, Sanguivore is released on Friday the 13th of October. Our recommendation is the special edition vinyl to listen to and the picture disc to jealously guard and never defile with a needle.

Teenage Sacrifice Lyrics

All my friends are digging graves
And I’m handing them their shovels
Burning churches to the ground
And making love in the rubble

We were born to be addicted to tragedy

Baby, so tonight, be my teenage sacrifice
Would you bleed out forever
If love cut like a knife?
Baby, so tonight, be my teenage sacrifice
When you wash the blood from your hands
Can you live without your life?

Can you live without your life?

Oh, my bleeder of the pack
You drank the blood that you were given
Girls will go to hell and back
For boys who taste like heaven

We were born to be addicted to agony

Baby, so tonight, be my teenage sacrifice
Would you bleed out forever
If love cut like a knife?
Baby, so tonight, be my teenage sacrifice
When you wash the blood from your hands
Can you live without your life?

Can you live without your life?

Baby, so tonight, be my teenage sacrifice
Would you bleed out forever
If love cut like a knife?
Baby, so tonight, be my teenage sacrifice
When you wash the blood from your hands
Can you live without your life?
Can you live without your life?

Can you live without
Can you live without
Can you live without your life?
