Creeper - Cry To Heaven. A vintage looking painting featuring an angelic beauty wearing a white gown, she has dark bony wings. She is sat on a pile of skulls and surrounded by classical looking dancing girls. A foreboding castle partly hides the moon.

With promises of blood, sex, and vampires, Creeper have announced their new album with the launch of the crepuscular goth-throwback single, ‘Cry To Heaven’.

This song has serious vibes from Falco, Sisters of Mercy, Peter Steele, and maybe just a tiny bit of Meatload in this epic horror-pop single. It’s a song about a sexy cannibal girl who offers a somewhat deadly kiss.

It kicks off with an Army of Lovers choral chant before zapping into an eighties synth-led dark rock track. The vocal embodies the character of the song, deep and draculesque.

The solo is a perfect eighties guitar-moment, indulgent and melodic, providing a nice break before the stripped-down chorus that announces the end is near… cue key change and pyrotechnics!

Creeper fans are going to lap up every last bloody drop of this song, but I suspect new ears will prick up when this song gets played. It’s got a hypnotic draw that’s likely to win new members to the cult.

The song is slated to be the second track on long player, Sanguivore, which is released on Friday 13th October, 2023. Of course, it is!

Cry To Heaven Lyrics

My cannibal baby, she has a hunger in her eyes
One hand on her hip and the other down his thighs
I’ve got a bloodlust baby, she wears a human disguise
Black lace and leather with her natural desires

She’ll lay you on the bed
She’ll make you beg

Cry to heaven (Cry to heaven)
Cry to hell (Cry to hell)
Get down on your knees (Get down on your knees)
You’re under the devil’s spell
Cry to heaven

This cannibal baby, she wants a taste of what’s inside
She’s handcuffed to my backseat so she can take him for a ride
I’ve got a bloodlust baby, and boy, she barely is alive
And this motherless mistress has a kiss you won’t survive

Sing along, baby
Make him beg

Cry to heaven (Cry to heaven)
Cry to hell (Cry to hell)
Get down on your knees (Get down on your knees)
You’re under the devil’s spell
Cry to heaven (Cry to heaven)
Cry to hell (Cry to hell)
Get down on your knees (Get down on your knees)
You’re under the devil’s spell

She’s made of wet dreams and carnal urges
Of those who sing the dirges
Divorced the light to embrace the queen
Queen of the damned

Cry to heaven (Cry to heaven)
Cry to hell (Cry to hell)
Get down on your knees (Get down on your knees)
You’re under the devil’s spell

And death is fleeting
Love eternal

Cry to heaven (Cry to heaven)
Cry to hell (Cry to hell)
Get down on your knees (Get down on your knees)
You’re under the devil’s spell
Cry to heaven (Cry to heaven)
Cry to hell (Cry to hell)
Get down on your knees (Get down on your knees)
You’re under the devil’s spell
Cry to heaven
