Sea Girls - Midnight Butterflies

With an upbeat vibe, bright acoustic guitar, and snare fills, Sea Girls ‘Midnight Butterflies’ harks back to the nineties Manchester indie scene.

With very a strong James vibe, the song still hits the anthemic indie zone that makes Sea Girls win over festival goers. The lyrics talk about living in the moment, being reckless, and having euphoric nights. The song also presents the interesting possibility of another band naming themselves ‘Sea Lights’ after mishearing this chorus.

We wanted the opening song on Midnight Butterflies to really represent our approach to the album, which is all about letting go, allowing yourself to indulge in that need to escape and be carefree. I think we all crave that, especially as you take on more responsibility in life.

This single is the title track for Sea Girls’ third album, which is also called Midnight Butterflies. The album is out on 14th June, 2024.

Midnight Butterflies Lyrics

Yeah I had a dream
’bout you and I
We were both in gold
We were both getting high
And I can’t forget
What it looks like

There were skyscrapers
And marble skies
Rewind this
And close your eyes
Impossible
But you gotta try

She’s all over the place
And she can’t feel her face
But she’s really happy
Whoo
When she’s in her mode
And she’s feeling lucky
Whoo

Now there’s a fire in the hall
And I can’t hide it anymore
I come on soaking to thе bone
You’re like sеx and rock ‘n’ roll

City lights in her eyes
We’re both midnight butterflies
City lights
She’s feeling lucky

There’s a lot of smoke
And blurry lines
You were 20-something
Now you’re 25
We got two more years
And then we’ll die

She’s all over the place
And she can’t feel her face
But she’s really happy
Whoo
When she’s in her mode
And she’s feeling lucky
Whoo

Now there’s a fire in the hall
And I can’t hide it anymore
I come on soaking to the bone
You’re like sex and rock ‘n’ roll

City lights in her eyes
We’re both midnight butterflies
City lights
She’s feeling lucky

Yea I’m on fire when you call
And I’ve been losing self-control
I got your pictures on my wall
You start me up and watch me go

City lights in her eyes
We’re both midnight butterflies
City lights
She’s feeling lucky

City lights in her eyes
We’re both midnight butterflies
City lights
She’s feeling lucky
