While we impatiently wait for the new album, Sea Girls slip a perfect acoustic track under our door. ‘Million Years’ is a great chilled track and manages to feel rather orchestral.

The song is heartfelt, fusing some traditional love song elements with grittier realism. One minute it’s all ‘you send smoke signals between your dimples’ and the next it’s ‘I’ll hold your hair back when you’ve had too much’. Hey! It’s all romance my friends.

The acoustic guitar plucks around the chords and thickens with bass and another guitar into that wonderfully rich sound. It’s like ‘Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky’ but without the actual orchestra.

The song is sweet, quirky, and wonderful.

Listen to Sea Girls – ‘Million Years’.

Million Years Lyrics

You send smoke signals between your dimples
I send a rescue, I come and get you
But when we’re old and grown up we’ll still get dressed up
We’re leaving paint marks in all the places we’ve loved

Now and forever now
Forever

I know in a million years I’ll be here kissing your tears
I know in a million years I’ll be here sharing your fears
And You look so good when you’re wasted
The best that I ever tasted
I know in a million years I’ll be here kissing your tears

I’ll hold your hair back when you’ve had too much
I’ll be there for you, you can keep my head up
Our pretty picture with all our colours
You chew a toothbrush, I want you so much

Now and forever now and forever

I know in a million years I’ll be here kissing your tears
I know in a million years I’ll be here sharing your fears
And you look so good when you’re wasted
The best that I ever tasted
I know in a million years I’ll be here kissing your tears
