Meet Me @ The Altar
Straight Up Needy / Dead To Me
As their new album starts to take shape, Meet Me @ The Altar offer up a more refined brace of tracks to tease their evolved sound.
The bass is a little less of a push and they reserve the rhythmic chops for mere flashes alongside a more pop/punk arrangement overall.
I’ll admit the super glitchy rhythm was the reason I paid attention to this band when they first appeared. They also supplied a key soundtrack song to a career change.
Despite this nostalgia, I feel they needed to add more variety and contrast. That’s what’s going on here.
‘Straight Up Needy’ is a straight up pop punk anthem, while ‘Dead To Me’ offers up a marching beat verse and a dual-paced chorus with razor-edged lyrics.
My gut feeling based on these two tracks is that this album will meet and likely exceed their debut.

Straight Up Needy Lyrics
Oh God I’ve been here before
Nothing I can’t handle
Tired of coming up short
To everyone you know
Don’t wanna think all night long
But I got some time to kill
Hoping that I’ll crack the code
And be the one you wantI can’t eat
Can’t sleep
So full of misery
Incase you even give a shitIt’s all your fault
That life’s been difficult
I’m crying on the floor
Is there a bright side?
I know you swore
We’re better off alone
That I’m just not the one
Fuck it I’ll let it show
I’m straight up, needyStraight up, needy
Straight upYeah lookin back I could find
So many clear signs
Guess I ignored em it’s fine
(This is fine)
No, I regret it of course
It was all for nothing
My heart’ s so torn
I feel sore
What did you do to me?Still can’t eat
Can’t sleep
Still full of jealousy
The pain no one could comprehendIt’s all your fault
That life’s been difficult
I’m crying on the floor
Is there a bright side?
I know you swore
We’re better off alone
That I’m just not the one
Fuck it I’ll let it show
I’m straight up, needyStraight up, needy
Straight up, needy
Oh God I’ve been here before
No this ain’t new to me
Straight up
