Namyamka

The success, or otherwise, of a prog-rock track is usually related to how over-the-top things get. The more the musicians push the envelope, the harder it is to enjoy the song. On this occasion, though, it comes down to the incongruous sound of the clever break.

‘Namyamka’ has great moments, don’t think for a moment that I’m suggesting otherwise, it just catches itself out on its own drum beat. Just when things get a bit complicated and the drums need to lead the way, they get just a bit too flowery and add too much to an already overload-approaching piece of music.

I’m sorry to say that I didn’t enjoy this track very much. The band are clearly very talented though and it just needs a touch of production-sense to hit the spot.
