Delays
Prizefighter (Lockdown Demo)

‘Nothing changes and I’m still with you,’ the lyrics reach out to hug us as the song bursts into life. It’s been a long time since our last slice of fabulist delight… but it just tastes sweeter.

The rhythmic synth tones and guitar stabs give us a refreshing eighties bubble alongside a rolling beat that drives us onwards into a song that keeps getting richer. The vocals, as you’d expect from the Delays, give us melodies and harmonies that float heavenly towards a melancholy chorus. This is a song that channels how we’re all feeling right now and it’s beautiful. Long-time Delays fans are well advised to listen during a spell of that spring-time rain.

While the song takes us on a figurative journey, the video takes us on a literal one. What can I say. It’s fitting.

Encore.
