This is one of the most honest and heartfelt lovesongs I’ve ever heard. This isn’t skipping through the meadow dreaminess – it’s real world taking care of each other stuff. It’s surprisingly touching.

It’s a melodic guitar motif that takes us into the first verse. The hint of a beat arrives halfway through and elevates along with the guitars in the pre-chorus. It’s delicately done and EQs in just as the chorus kicks. It’s a bouncy one, but that doesn’t stop the beating heart of the song from shining through.

Though some of the lines have a humorous leaning, that doesn’t stop the heartfelt lines from landing. It’s a really sweet song, but it’s also a serious piece of crafted emo brilliance… so if you’re not the settling kind you’ll still enjoy the song.

On this outing, we have one of the more aesthetic Jimmy Eat World songs, with a Fall Out Boy spin and a Wheatus twist.

Keeper Lyrics

How do you have the energy
To every day keep telling me
You love me when I’m struggling
To get out of my bed?

My friends are all out on the road
I’m in sweatpants on the couch at home
Not doing so well on my own
Rather be with you instead

Won’t you help me break the cycle?
My make it happen hype girl
When my life is stuck in idle, you’re my revival
When everything’s wrong, I know I belong in your arms

I’m sorry that I overslept
You’re overworked, I’m underdressed
But the sky is getting clearer
With each step you take nearer
I hope you know how much I care
When you pick up my underwear
Oh my love is growing deeper
You’re such a fucking keeper

I got off work and fell asleep
With Halo streaming on TV
I’m not so sure I’ll end this week
And my weed is almost gone

Then you shut the door and light a fire
You’re just as sore and twice as tired
And yet you’re somehow still inspired
Can you make me half as strong?

Won’t you help me break the cycle?
My make it happen hype girl
When my life is stuck in idle, you’re my revival
When everything’s wrong, I know I belong in your arms

I’m sorry that I overslept
You’re overworked, I’m underdressed
But the sky is getting clearer
With each step you take nearer
I hope you know how much I care
When you pick up my underwear
Oh my love is growing deeper
You’re such a fucking keeper

I can’t say it enough, I can’t say it enough
I can’t say it enough, you’re such a fucking keeper
