Magnolia Park - Halloween Mixtape II

Magnolia Park
Antidote (feat. Kailee Morgue)

Jump to...

Like every good Halloween Horror, Magnolia Park are bang on time with their sequel to the Halloween Mixtape. ‘Antidote’ is one of the tracks of this year’s Halloween Mixtape II, along with a whopping sixteen other tracks, including ‘Breathing’ and ‘Manic’.

The song starts with an atmospheric first run-through of the chorus, before chugging into life with the full band. The first chorus builds to a big half-beat crescendo before dropping away to let Kailee Morgue’s vocal introduce itself (and the second verse). A couple of bars later things start firing back up and the pre-chorus preps to take it up again.

The middle eight is a great vocal back-and-forth between Joshua Roberts and Kailee Morgue, the melody and lyrics escalating as the final chorus approaches.

This track has some of the palm-muted sensibility of a punk song, but with a darker tone that gives it a nu-metal edge. Whatever the inspiration for the different styles that are merged here, it’s a punchy song with plenty of power, but never loses its melodic side.

You can get the full mixtape on October 27th, but several tracks are available to listen to now.

Antidote Lyrics

‘Cause I need an antidote, antidote
I think I’m about to choke, ’bout to choke
I need an antidote

I haven’t figured it out a failure to myself
I’m so ashamed I ended up this way
I’m canceling plans, losing all of my friends
I need an angel to save me

Is there something I can do
‘Cause the way I am means I’m losing you
Found this is twenty two
Help me lose my mind

‘Cause I need an antidote, antidote
I think I’m about to choke, ’bout to choke
I can feel I need to get a rope, get a rope
Chasing faces so I have control, have control
I need an antidote

‘Til I find the doses
I’m broken
I need an antidote

Where the hell are my friends
The enemy is my head
I guess I’m at it again
I’m off the deep end
A soul sacrifice
Still more until I die
Can’t stop me if you tried

Is there something I can do
‘Cause the way I am means I’m losing you
Found this is twenty two
Help me lose my mind

‘Cause I need an antidote, antidote
I think I’m about to choke, ’bout to choke
I can feel I need to get a rope, get a rope
Chasing faces so I have control, have control
I need an antidote

‘Til I find the doses
I’m broken
I need an antidote
I’m stuck in psychosis
So hopeless
I need an antidote

Poison me with antidotes
Give me life until I choke
Light up myself, lock the door
I can’t feel a thing no more
I see why I feel alone
A ghost trapped in the corridor
Phantom of the overdose
Who will come and save me

‘Cause I need an antidote, antidote
I think I’m about to choke, ’bout to choke
I can feel I need to get a rope, get a rope
Chasing faces so I have control, have control
I need an antidote

‘Til I find the doses
I’m broken
I need an antidote
I’m stuck in psychosis
So hopeless
I need an antidote

I need an antidote
I need an antidote
I need an antidote
