Loopy
Wonderful Christmas

Loopy often live up to their name and the arrival of a Christmas single, duly entered in the Richard and Judy 2005 Christmas Song competition, does suggest that they are about to do it again.

There is no shortage of cheesy moments, with sleigh bells, church bells, jangly guitars, and lyrics more chirpy than a robin with a fat-ball. It’s enough to make the turkey catch in your throat and therefore satisfies everything on the Christmas tune checklist. The b-side, ‘This Christmas Day’, takes a sudden melancholy turn, in a post-Christmas reprise of the chirpy a-side.

It’s a lot of fun, but probably not one that will be hitting the CD player very often, which is a shame when you consider the effort that has gone into producing the whole thing to such a high standard!

2006 sees Loopy scrabbling around on the floor, picking up the tiny pieces of their credibility and sticking them back together with the sticky-back plastic that will take the form of their next album.
