Blind Channel - Bad Idea

Blind Channel
Bad Idea

Blind Channel’s self-proclaimed violent pop style takes a side step for their latest single. So, while there are still some metal-sounding guitars in here, this song slides right alongside alt-pop in its sound.

It all starts with the focus on the vocals, backed by a solid drum beat and almost imperceptible dreamy instrumentation. The chorus kicks in the full band sound, with the dual-vocal adding interest as the ‘baby I’m a bad idea’ line gets given more prominence throughout the song.

The imagery is strong in the video, matching the lyrical hints of love and darkness and that probably makes this song a goth-rock track that aligns thematically with Therapy’s Infernal Love or MCR’s Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.

The production is solid and clean, perhaps missing some of the punch of the live version – but that’s such a common phenomenon in modern music that it is hardly worth a mention. The single is really captivating and I think a lot of new fans will be drawn to them with this song.
