Wynona Bleach - Feels Good

Wynona Bleach
Religion

Jump to...

There is uncharacteristic urgency to the latest Wynona Bleach single, ‘Religion’. It rushes onward and takes you helplessly along with it.

The rapidity is maintained by the bass and drums, which gives the guitar freedom to do an eccentric combination of Cure-esque bends (think ‘One Hundred Years’), repeating triplets, and hypnotic harmonics.

The chorus brings a venomous energy and elevates the noise levels, but that 3/4 riff over the relentless 4/4 beat makes the verses just as much fun.

Religion Lyrics

I’m not dead
I’m disappeared
Clear my head
By being sinful in the night

Rot in bed
Feeling guilt I haven’t risen
Have some faith
Stay up late to see the light

Ahhh …yeah.

Say it’s real
Takes a miracle to move me
Say I’m good
Even if it’s all a lie

I don’t care
If it’s the only way you’ll love me
It’s not fair
So I’ll scream it at the sky

Ahhh

And I swear it feels so real
Yeah you make me want Religion (Religion!)
And I swear it feels so real
All I need is your permission (Permission!)

I confess
Say whatever makes you happy
I’m a mess
In your image if you’d like

I don’t care
If it’s the only way you’ll love me
It’s not fair
So I’ll scream it at the sky

Ahhh

And I swear it feels so real
Yeah you make me want Religion (Religion!)
And I swear it feels so real
All I need is your permission (Permission!)

Post punks on coke
Post punks on coke
Hang ourselves when we get enough rope
Post punks on coke

Post punks on coke
Post punks on coke
Hang ourselves when we get enough rope
Post punks on coke

….religion
…permission

And I swear it feels so real
Yeah you make me want Religion (Religion!)
And I swear it feels so real
All I need is your permission (Permission!)
