Do you like garbage? Do you like wasting? Are you part of the majority that buys and throws things away or keeps them for no reason? There is more than one reason to read on and listen to the song. And not just for you.

Candi Carpenter Matters to Us So Dearly

There are many reasons why we love Candi Carpenter; be it their semi-biographical storytelling, the choice of topics and themes, or the brutal drive that always leaves a mark. The presence of honesty about the state of things in their lyrics is sometimes soul-crushing but often highly relatable.

Before we get the last song, ‘Biblically Accurate Angel’, that will complete the list of the upcoming EP of the same title, and accompany the previously released singles, ‘Inside the Simulation‘, ‘The Fear of Being Human Remains‘, and ‘American God‘, we need to talk about ‘Little Freak‘.

Are You Consuming Enough? Are You Feeling Empty?

Just as ‘Seasonal Depression‘ delivered what many feel around Christmas, ‘Little Freak‘ brings another pressing matter into the forefront of our everyday lives. This time going heavier on the sound, especially the guitars.

The song – with its dark and ironic imagery – reflects on the culture of consumerism and waste and hints at their connection to human relationships.

A burning landfill filled with discarded, degrading, and rotting ordinary items undeniably presents humanity’s impact on the environment and over-consumerism. However, it manages to bring in the human connection, relationships, as Carpenter compares themselves to rubbish. Rubbish that still wants to be used, knowing it’ll be abandoned or disposed of. Since there’s some degree of emotion and feeling at least something.

Quite fitting for the current state of affairs.

TL;DR

‘Little Freak‘ neatly complements the three singles and if the last one is as bleak as the current releases, we’re not getting a positive take on the future. Rather the opposite, an honest account of what’s wrong.

If we’re lucky, Carpenter expands the upcoming EP into a full album – just as they did with Demonology (2024).

Candi Carpenter Little Freak Lyrics

The landfill is on fire
Burning chicken bones and birthday cards
Broken toilet seats and VCRs
And I’m just another plastic jar
I wanna be used
I want you to use me
Devour my insides
Empty me out
Completely consume me

I’ll be your little freak
I’ll be your favorite asshole
I’ll sit and rot in your kitchen baby
With your bananas and apples oh yeah
I’ll be your little freak
Your capitalist carnage
If they throw me away
When they throw me away
I wanna be your garbage

We are digging a grave
And filling it with shopping bags
Coffee cups and tattered flags
Couch cushions and mattresses
I wanna lay down with you
If the world can burn then we can too
Let’s get incinerated and waste this afternoon

I’ll be your little freak
I’ll be your favorite asshole
I’ll sit and rot in your kitchen baby
With your bananas and apples oh yeah
I’ll be your little freak
Your capitalist carnage
If they throw me away
When they throw me away
I wanna be your garbage

Ooh
Oh yeah
I wanna be your garbage
Ooh
Oh yeah
I wanna be your garbage

I’ll be your little freak
I’ll be your favorite asshole
I’ll sit and rot in your kitchen baby
With your bananas and apples oh yeah yeah
I’ll be your little freak
Your capitalist carnage
If they throw me away
When they throw me away
I wanna be your garbage
