Sometimes the best songs are the ones with the most relatable lyrics, delivered playfully but sincerely. Lauran Hibberd has an uncanny ability to create quirky power pop tracks that sound like fun, yet tweak the emotional nipples in that odd happysad way.

‘2nd Prettiest Girl (in the world)’ is just such as song. It’s a Weezery track with a great chorus, yet the story shines right through. When I added this to my Lauran Hibberd playlist, it struck me how many songs are on there. Why does this playlist exist… it’s just all of them.

In any case, don’t be fooled by the shimmering pop brilliance, Hibberd is also an excellent storyteller.
