All American Rejects deliver a mix of melodic and spoken verses intermixed with energetic chorus blasts in their new single, ‘Easy Come Easy Go’.

Sonically, the song does reference the elements we love about AAR. They know how to bring a hook, when to make space, and how to add details and flourishes that keep things interesting. They also know how to create a bouncing anthemic chorus. All this is present for this single.

Certainly old fans will love this single, but the goal isn’t to just deliver a nostalgia fest. The band want to be vibrant, fresh, and able to reach new people. I think this single can do that with it’s angsty chorus and introspective lyrics.

Getting to where we are today of putting [music] down, which is what we’re doing, has taken a lot of fireside chats. A lot of mending fences. That’s exciting. I think I said in an interview, people don’t really want a new All-American Rejects record. People want their time capsule and want to jump into it and feel like they smell CK One and it makes them feel young. But the question I pose is, “What if we can say something now? What if we can actually resonate?

We loved the All American Rejects, and we enjoyed the Now More Than Ever side project. The new AAR sound perfectly up to the task they’ve set themselves. Added to playlist!

Easy Come Easy Go Lyrics

I cut you out, don’t be so typical
Putting my tap shoes on like eggshells when I dance around you
So work it out, work it out, why be so difficult?
I’m pouring salt around the cemetery licking my wounds
Like it’s too late, to fight on
Spitting on the shoulder that you used to cry on
So dry your eyes, don’t make it cyclical
It comes around goes around yeah

You only love me when I’m out of control
Easy come, easy go
You only love me when I’m out on the road
Easy come, easy go.

And if I found you, down at the river below
beneath the cliff’s edge, out in the shallows
The water so blue, that it was red as a rose
My pot of gold, you were the rainbow
I’ll be the violet, you’ll be the violence
Screaming your white noise, I sit in silence
So shut your mouth, [why be so difficult?] (band notes read “don’t make it cyclical”)
It comes around goes around yeah

You only love me when I’m out of control
Easy come, easy go
You only love me when I’m out on the road
Easy come, easy go.

And in the ashes of our love, there came a gift as from above
I can’t believe my eyes and look into the skies and wonder why?
Why’d you let me go?
Why’d you leave me slow?
Why’d you bleed me out [to dry myself?] (band notes read “gibberish”)
Why do I look into the mirror and still see you?
Why does my face seem to turn black and blue?
With the bruises of our love, thrown away like a dove in the air
And all I have is all I am

You only love me when I’m out of control
Easy come, easy go
You only love me when I’m out on the road
Easy come, easy go.
