Sophie

With an announcement on a new album increasingly likely to surface, TGC are getting us ready for the news with their latest single, ‘Sophie’. For those who want a dreamy electro-pop swarm with otherworldly vocals and a distinct dreamy feel, there is no band that does it better.

The song emerges tentatively, just a sweet vocal and subtle synth. This develops into a rich rhythmic song with waves and echoes in the music, a slow dance rhythm, and Milla’s beautiful atmospheric voice. The musical hooks are subtle but powerful; very much a continuation of their distinctive sound. Vocally, the only comparable artist would be The Mummer’s ace vocalist Raissa with something aligning in the seemingly effortless floating melodies.

Previous releases have been dreamy, but dreams form a key lyrical component of this song, which is mix of dreams, love, loss, and the enigmatic universe. It’s a form of romantic poetry and mysticism: “I wanna soak in your deep mind. Bath ’til I lose time. Together we’ll find the light.”

TGC may not pop records out frequently, but everything they release is flawless.
